Vectis Law is one of the principal criminal defence firms on the Isle of Wight.  We operate a hands on approach at the cutting edge of the Isle of Wight criminal justice system.  You can be sure of consistent representation by us throughout your case.  We defend clients in cases from road traffic offences to murder.

Vectis Law is based centrally in the Isle of Wight county town of Newport.  It is conveniently situated for the Isle of Wight Courts and Newport Police Station custody centre.  The firm’s offices are only a few minutes walk from the town’s central public transport links.  An adjacent car park has 90 minutes free parking.

Vectis Law was established in 2006 by the Principal, Oscar Vincent.  Having previously practised in partnership dealing with serious crime, fraud and criminal defence litigation in the City of London and West Sussex areas, Oscar Vincent set up his own office in Newport to provide criminal defence services for the whole of the Isle of Wight area.

Oscar Vincent qualified as a solicitor in 1995.  In 2002, he qualified as a Higher Courts Advocate, thus enabling him to have the same rights of audience as a barrister in the higher criminal courts.  He has extensive experience of court and 24 hour police station duty solicitor work.  Oscar’s previous duty solicitor scheme membership has included Chichester, Crawley, Eastleigh, Gatwick Airport, New Forest, Portsmouth, Southampton and Waterlooville.  He is currently a member of the Isle of Wight court and 24 hour police station duty solicitor schemes.

Vectis Law undertakes publicly funded work, otherwise known as legal aid, as well as privately funded work.  We can also offer a free initial interview and a fixed fee arrangement.
